Renkenberger Award from NAMGAR-
As hallmark ambassadors for the MG, Jim and Roberta Lumley were founding members of MG Car Club Northwest Centre in Washington State in 1958.  They still drive that brand new MGA purchased the same year.  They were married in 1955 after a six year courtship that began when Jim was 16 and Roberta was 14.  Over the years they have purchased a 1980 MGB LE and a 1972 MG GT.  As champions for supporting all MG events, they regularly attend club meetings and activities as well as have met and continue to communicate with MG lovers across the country.  Because of their outgoing and caring personalitities, they are easily remembered as authorities in the field of MG's.  Jim also is known to have just about any car part or equipment needed for repair and willingly shares with friends and strangers alike. He has never met an MG (or owner) he doesn't like!

The Lumley's drive an MG daily.  Jim can be seen washing a car many days a week.  He takes meticulous care of his MG's and they perform accordingly, even with a "lead foot!"  His passion for MG's is contagious.  There are many MG owners who have one (or more) because of Jim and Roberta.  Whether leading tours, serving as officers or volunteering to help in any way they can, the Lumley's are our clubs best supporters.

After starting college, Jim enlisted in the army for two years and returned to join Roberta at WWSU in Bellingham, WA where they both earned education degrees.  Both taught school for over 30 years.  Jim in elementary school and Roberta as a counselor, after deciding 'Home Ec' was not her 'cup of tea'.  However, give her a plant or a friend and they flourish with her TLC!

It gives our chapter great pleasure in offering up the names of Jim and Roberta Lumley as recipients of the North American MGA Registry's 2010 Renkenberger Spirit Award because they best reflect the 'spririt of MG'.  Their continued vision, dedication, and contribution are immeasurable.  They exemplify the "personal bonding agent" that gives the MGCCNWC the success it has endured for over 52 years.
